It's been a busy few weeks at the New Roots farm. We've been planting, harvesting, watering, going to market, planning for next season and cooking and creating recipes! Here are a few pictures from September. Check out our teamwork!
Sisters Halima and Amina bring things to the scale on harvest day.

Pay Lay's kids work together to complete her harvest in the pouring rain!
Khadijo, Hailma, Amina and the kids work together in the rain to clean all their produce.
Pelagie and Nyakang share a snack during our downpour harvest last Friday.

Christie, Josh and Cory help Aye Aye clean her beans.
Pa Mu and Ehler Tu keep each other company at the farm. (and smash tomatoes, and throw gravel at people, and get really muddy, etc.)
Pay Lay and volunteer Susan (my momma!) work together at the farmer's market.
Khadijo teaches a customer how to tie her baby on her back Africa-style!
Awesome volunteer Shauna helps me carry the CSA cooler!
Our CSA members work together with their growers in a win-win situation!
We've still got a few weeks left at the Farmer's Market. Come see us at Brookside and buy our fall crops: Arugula, Spinach, Mizuna, Green Beans, Turnips, Pumpkins and a lot of other yummies!

  1. I miss you all so much! It's great to see that things are going well down there.
